We are getting pretty excited about the second year of the awards, we really appreciate all of the support that we’ve had from people in the industry, thanks!

Based on feedback from last years awards, we have made some changes to the the entry forms and categories for the 2011 awards.  One of those changes is turning the ‘Best Wedding Reception Venue’ category into two separate categories, to best reflect the diverse types of Venues that were entered last year.  This year there are two separate categories for ‘Best Wedding Reception Venue,’ they are as follows (categories below to link directly to the entry forms for that category):

• Best Wedding Reception Venue – Hotel or Banquet Hall
• Best Wedding Reception Venue – Alternative Location

We made the change in response to the recognition that the Hotel or Banquet hall’s really are their own category and many brides who are planning their weddings are looking for specifically this type of location.  Then there are the alternative locations to hold a Wedding reception, places that are a little out of the ordinary, like last years winner, the Vancouver Aquarium.

Splitting up the category in this way should result in a much fairer competition this year for the venues.
